- I. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-

-
- 2. Microsoft Windows 95 (Dutch, French, German, Hebrew,
- Hebrew-Enabled, Italian, OSR2, Spanish or US)
-
- 3. Between 9 MB and 24 MB hard disk space, depending on how
- many dictionaries you install. If your version of
- WordPoint includes speech support and you choose to
- install this feature, you will need between 15 and 30 MB
- hard disk space.
-
- 4. Some versions of WordPoint include speech support. To
- use this feature, you must have a sound card installed
- on your computer.
-
-
- II. NOTES ABOUT INSTALLATION
-
- 1. If you previously installed a version of WordPoint, you
- must uninstall it before installing the current version
- of WordPoint. After uninstalling the old version, shut
- down and restart the computer.
-
- 2. Some versions of WordPoint include speech support. To
- use this feature, you must select the following options
- during installation:
-
- * In the Select Components dialog box, select the
- component WordPoint, then select the sub-component
- Speech.
-
- * Select at least one dictionary that has English as
- its source language. (WordPoint's speech support
- pronounces English words only.)
-
- Note: Speech Support files are installed in an LHSP
- subdirectory of your Win95 directory.
-
-
- III. GETTING STARTED
-
- 1. To run WordPoint after installation, choose Programs
- from the Start menu and select WordPoint from the
- WordPoint program group. If you chose a different
- program group during setup, substitute the program group
- you chose.
-
- 2. To display the WordPoint window, double-click the
- WordPoint icon in the tray (to the right of the
- taskbar), or right-click the icon and choose Show
- Window.
-
-
- IV. TROUBLESHOOTING AND KNOWN LIMITATIONS
-
- 1. WordPoint uses Accent Software International's
- text-grabbing system to let you look up words from other
- programs by clicking or pointing to them with your mouse
- ("Mouse Word Selection"). If you are already running
- another program using Accent's text-grabbing system,
- such as Webster's New World Dictionary and Thesaurus,
- you cannot run WordPoint until you close the other
- program.
-
- 2. If you experience performance problems using Mouse Word
- Selection with Point Method, try using Click Method
- instead.
-
- 3. You cannot use the mouse to select words in most menus,
- although Mouse Word Selection in menus does work in some
- programs including Microsoft Office 97.
-
- 4. ToolTips do not display more than ten translations, even
- if you select All in the Max. number of translations box
- in the Properties dialog.
-
- 5. After you select a word with the mouse, the WordPoint
- Main Window appears to be active even though it isn't.
- If you then want to enter a word in the Main Window,
- make sure to first click the mouse in the Main Window to
- make it the active window.
-
- 6. Uninstalling Internet Explorer 4.0 after installing
- WordPoint may affect WordPoint's ToolTips. To restore
- proper functioning of ToolTips, reinstall WordPoint.
- When you reinstall, make sure that Program Files is
- selected in the components selection dialog. You do not
- have to reinstall any dictionaries.
-
- 7. If your version of WordPoint includes Hebrew support:
-
- * When translating to and from Hebrew, Gender and
- Part of Speech information is not available. In
- addition, you must enter abbreviations manually
- rather than selecting them with the mouse.
-
- * This version does not support Hebrew vowels
- (nikud). When you select a word with nikud, the
- translation may be unavailable or incorrect.
-
- 8. There is a compatibility problem with this version of
- WordPoint and Webster's New World Dictionary & Thesaurus
- Version 1.0. If you installed both programs and
- Webster's New World Dictionary & Thesaurus does not
- work, uninstall WordPoint and reboot your computer.
- Then, reinstall WordPoint.
-
- Note: You may want to contact technical support for
- Webster's New World Dictionary & Thesaurus to see if a
- compatible Webster's New World Dictionary & Thesaurus
- upgrade has been released. The technical support phone
- number is printed in the program's CD booklet.
-
- 9. In some cases, when you use WordPoint's mouse to select
- a word next to a word in a different font, the two words
- run together, preventing proper translation.
-
- 10. Some audio programs displaying animated images or digital
- clocks may interfere with Mouse Word Selection. To
- eliminate this problem, set the user interface of
- the audio application to a static display or minimize
- the application, or both.
-
-
- V. UNINSTALLING WORDPOINT
-
- To uninstall WordPoint:
-
- 1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Settings.
-
- 2. Choose Control Panel.
-
- 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
-
- 4. Select WordPoint v.1.4 and click Add/Remove.
-
- If you want to uninstall WordPoint then reinstall it, you
- must shut down and restart your computer after uninstalling.
